Marilyn's Story
In 1992, Marilyn Mulero was wrongfully arrested for a Chicago gang murder. Young, inexperienced, and wanting to stay alive for her children, she was frightened into signing a false statement when investigators threatened her with execution. To make matters worse, her attorney failed to fully investigate the case and pushed Marilyn into making a risky blind plea with the court. That deal turned deadly at sentencing when the court gave her the death penalty.
It would take her 28 years but she would eventually win her freedom. This is her story…
