Marilyn Mulero

In 1992, Marilyn Mulero was wrongfully arrested for a Chicago gang murder. Young, inexperienced, and desperate to stay alive for her children, she was frightened into signing a false statement after investigators threatened her with execution. To make matters worse, her attorney failed to fully investigate the case and pressured her into taking a risky blind plea. That deal turned deadly when the court sentenced her to death.

 

It would take 28 years, but Marilyn eventually won back her freedom. This is her story…
